![]() I signed up for an account on Mikrotik with the intention of purchasing a key, but wanted to make sure I could navigate around in the OS to get things set up and, well, that's not looked pretty so far. Please, if someone has some insight, could you please let me know where I am goofing this all up at. I saw netinstall for Linux, but again, every single thing I come across as to how to use that seems to be centered on Windows, so I have no idea how one goes about using that on an actual Linux machine to create a bootable image. Put it in the target PC and set the BIOS to boot from the USB drive. I run Linux on my machines at home so I fired up USB Image Writer and burned it to USB. However, every single how-to I can find about installing from the ISO file says the exact same thing, burn to CD/USB and boot. Balena Etcher complains about no partition table and not being bootable. ![]() I downloaded the stable RouterOS 6.49 ISO. Not to be deterred, I thought maybe its a Balena thing. I am trying to install RouterOS to a x86 machine using a USB drive. Voila You now have 24 GiG of RAM as well as 8 Core as mentioned before. However, every single how-to I can find about installing from the ISO file says the exact same thing, burn to CD/USB and boot. Check the Allow x86-64 check box & Reboot the router. I downloaded the stable RouterOS 6.49 ISO. 2008), or non-x86 architectures like Linksys WRT54G (Wikipedia, 2012), or Mikrotik Routerboard (Mikrotik Inc., 2003). I am trying to install RouterOS to a x86 machine using a USB drive. I hope someone can help me out here because I am about to pull my hair out.
